GAINESVILLE — There are probably plenty of youngsters who dream about being firefighters when they grow up, but this week a four-year-old Hall County boy actually had that dream come true.

Hall County firefighters made Sean Robertson a firefighter for a day on Monday, putting a silver lining on what has been a cloudy couple of years for the little boy.

Sean was diagnosed at the age of 10 months with neurofibromatosis (NF) - a genetic disease in which tumors wrap around the nerves of the body. Because of the tumors that are located throughout his body and a cluster of tumors on the side of his head, Sean developed epilepsy at the age of 18 months.

His mother told firefighters Sean has always loved firefighters, so HCFS decided to add him to the crew, giving him his own set of gear and even allowing him to help operate a big fire hose at the county training center.

All photos submitted by Hall County government.
