LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man was arraigned last week on federal charges after he allegedly tried to meet a nine year old girl for sex.
According to a press release from U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia John Horn, Leonard Nathaniel Peragine, Jr. was arraigned on charges of using the internet to entice a child for sexual activity and distributing and possessing child pornography by a grand jury on October 27.
Horn said in the release that the 32-year-old responded to a classified ad online that claimed to offer sexual access to a nine year old girl. However, the ad was posted by an undercover agent as part of an FBI investigation.
Peragine reportedly communicated with the agent, thinking he was arranging to have sex with the child. He also allegedly sent videos of another child engaging in sexual acts to the person to show the child to persuade her to have sex with Peragine, according to Horn.
Horn said Peragine later spoke with who he thought was the child and asked her if she had seen the videos, and if she wanted to do the things in the videos with him. Horn said they arranged a meeting on September 29, and when he arrived, he was arrested.
Horn said in the release that condoms were located in Peragine's vehicle, and additional child pornography was found on his cell phone.
