ATLANTA - Voters in metro Atlanta Tuesday approved the creation of Georgia's newest city, Tucker, but rejected a proposal to create a second city of LaVista Hills.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://on-ajc.com/1RsiMt7) that preliminary election results showed overwhelming support for Tucker but a narrow defeat for LaVista Hills.
Tucker will have a population of about 33,300. It has been an unincorporated community for more than 120 years.
Had voters approved of LaVista Hills, it would have more than 67,446 residents.
