Mt. AIRY — Michael Babers knew the turnaround was coming for Habersham Central football.
The standout running back believes that turnaround came on Friday.
The Raiders stuffed Johns Creek 21-6 for their first win of the season and first under new head coach Benji Harrison – and Babers played the starring role.
Babers rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns and also caught two passes, including a scoring strike to account for all three Habersham touchdowns.
For his efforts, Babers has been named the Locos Grill and Pub Friday Game Night player of the week.
Babers has been impressive all season for the Raiders, rushing for 1,000 yards and 12 scores, while also catching 15 passes for four touchdowns so far in the spread attack installed by Harrison, and the junior hopes to continue that stellar play for a program that is looking to finish the campaign strong.
Habersham Central hopes to ride its offensive surge -- and newfound defensive prowess -- knowing that, if it can win one of its two remaining two contests, the Raiders will finish with their highest win total since 2011.
AccessWDUN and Friday Game Night sports editor Morgan Lee recently caught up with Babers to talk about his big night, Habersham's turnaround and where the Raiders hope to finish in 2015. (Click play in the video above.)
