HIAWASSEE — Commerce used a 35-point first quarter to take control and then cruised to a 49-0 win over Towns County Friday night in Region 8-A action.
Cole Chancey had a pair of first quarter scores and Trevonta Williford had a 56-yard interception return to highlight the explosion. Will Thomas also a touchdown run and Caleb Brooks connected with Matthew Flint on a touchdown pass in the quarter.
Austin brook had a touchdown run in the second quarter to give the Tigers (5-3, 4-2 Region 8-A) a 42-0 halftime lead. Nick Patrick added a 76-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
The Tigers will play host to George Walton Academy next. Towns County (1-8, 1-6) has now lost six straight.
