GAINESVILLE—Authorities are on the scene of a shooting at Lakewood Baptist Church on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville.
Cpl. Joe Britte said in a phone interview that it was an "altercation between two men." One was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, and the other is in custody.
Britte said authorities don't know the condition of the wounded man just yet.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the church around 2:41 p.m., and they aren't sure of a motive or cause.
The shooting has nothing to do with the church or its congregation, Britt said.
At this point nobody else is believed to be involved, and authorities continue to gather information at the scene.
