DAHLONEGA — Freshman Hannah Solesbee shot a career low one-over 73 and sits in a tie for second out of 56 golfers at the midway point of the second LeeAnn Noble Memorial Golf Tournament held at the par-72, 5,887-yard Achasta Golf Club. The Nighthawks posted a team score of 316 and sit in fourth place out of nine teams.
Lee finished the first round with a 305 total and holds a five-stroke lead over the West Georgia (310) and seven strokes over West Alabama (312).
Lee's Caroline Moore holds the individual lead with an even par 72. West Alabama's Linnette Holmslykke (73) and North Georgia's Hannah Solesbee are tied for second.
Carrilee Hiers (78), Anna Greer (79) and Mariana Pelaez (86) rounded out the scoring for the Nighthawks.
Solesbee bettered her previous career low by six strokes, while Hiers' 78 marked her best score of the season since a season-opening round of 76.
North Georgia's team score of 316 also set a new season low for the Nighthawks.
The second annual event is being held to honor LeeAnn Noble, a member of the UNG women's golf team that passed away in March of 2014 following a lengthy battle with heart complications.
