ATHENS — Gainesville football may not want to much film on this one.

The Red Elephants, who are currently battling a spate of injuries to key starters, committed four turnovers and had very little else go right in a 44-7 loss to Clarke Central on Friday in Athens.

Gainesville (4-3, 4-2 Region 8-AAAAA) actually took a 7-0 lead but then watched the Gladiators (3-4, 3-3) reel off 37 straight points before halftime.

Clarke Central quarterback Jack Mangel put up 344 yards passing and four touchdowns, while the Gladiators also scored on a safety and a fumble return.

Messiah Dorsey paced Gainesville with 136 yards rushing, including the opening score, and 146 yards passing.

The Red Elephants will look to bounce back against Cedar Shoals next week in Gainesville and avoid a three-game lose streak.
