BUFORD - The Lake Lanier Islands resort in south Hall County is once again getting ready for the holiday season by hiring nearly 300 seasonal employees.
Cindy Wahl, electronic marketing manager for the resort, said its winter offerings are expanding this year.
"Basically we have three different snow play areas this year that we're going to be blowing snow, kind of leading up to it, for basically 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so we do have a lot of overnight, late-night, early morning shifts."
The resort will debut a new winter-themed attraction at its beach and boardwalk entertainment district, and the Magical Nights of Lights holiday light display will return for the season.
"We are kind of expanding on our winter experience. Last year it was called Snow World, this year we're calling it Winter Adventure, so we do have quite a few more additional positions," Wahl said.
Available positions include snow groomers, cashiers, front gate attendants, ride attendants, food and beverage attendants, retail sales, clean up, admissions and others.
Human resources officials at the islands are planning five job fairs (www.lanierislands.com/careers) to fill the seasonal positions. They begin on October 20.
Wahl said there have been cases where seasonal employees have turned the opportunity into regular employment with the resort. Islands officials host similar seasonal job fairs going into the summer season.
