Gainesville man named to state WWI Centennial Commission

ATLANTA - Gordon Sawyer of Gainesville has been named by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia World War I Centennial Commission.
 
Sawyer is retired from the advertising industry. He is a veteran of World War II and past commander of the Paul E. Bolding Post 7 of the American Legion in Gainesville. Sawyer has written six books about northeast Georgia.
 
 He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech. He and his wife, Jean, have three children, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
