Gainesville sets a record for single-family residential building permits

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville set a record in 2014 for building permits for single-family homes.<br /> <br /> The city's planning department reported that 267 such permits were approved with another four OK'd for multi-family developments.<br /> <br /> Of the single-family permits that were approved last year, 125 were for the 469-acre Cresswind development on Browns Bridge Road west of town. Thirty-six of those were for Phase 3, which is at Browns Bridge Road and Montgomery Drive. In all, 934 homes are planned for the development.<br /> <br /> Hall County, meanwhile, reports issuing 341 permits for single-family dwellings last year.
