Boys basketball: Warriors rally to rout Monroe Area

CLEVELAND -- White County snapped a two-game Region 8-AAAA losing streak with an 88-63 win over Monroe Area Friday night at home.<br /> <br /> The Warriors (13-10, 3-3 Region 8-AAAA) trailed at halftime and used a big second half rally to get the victory.<br /> <br /> Monroe Area (14-9, 3-3) led 19-13 after the first quarter and took a 31-26 lead into halftime.<br /> <br /> White County came out firing in the third quarter. The Warriors outscored Monroe Area 29-15 in the third quarter to take a 55-46 lead and then exploded for 33 points in the fourth quarter to blow the game open.<br /> <br /> The 88 points was a season-high for White County. Whit Mauney paced the Warriors with 27 points. Brad Hurst added 18 points, Will Gearing 14 points, and Desmon Mataro had 11 points for White County.<br /> <br /> Willie Taylor led Monroe Area with 12 points. Kevin Debose added 10 points for Purple Hurricanes.
