Girls basketball: Union County knocks off Rabun to move into first in 8-AA

BLAIRSVILLE -- The Union County girls basketball team downed arch-rival Rabun County 63-52 on Friday to pull into a tie for first place in Region 8-AA with the Lady Wildcats. <br /> <br /> Lisa Nalaschi paced the Lady Panthers charge, tying for a game-high 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds despite fouling out with 5:33 remaining. Kaitlyn Day added 14 points, while Brooke Maddox scored 11.<br /> <br /> Courtney Reeves also put up 24 points for Rabun County, which led 46-33 in the fourth quarter before a Union County charge turned the tide for good.<br /> <br /> Union County took a 26-13 second quarter lead but could not hold it.<br /> <br /> The Lady Panthers finished 26 of 33 at the free throw line.
