Tech football releases 2015 schedule

ATLANTA -- Home games against defending ACC champion Florida State and in-state rival Georgia, plus road games at Notre Dame, Miami and Clemson highlight Georgia Tech's 2015 football schedule released Thursday. Georgia Tech (11-3), which won 11 games for the fifth time in school history last season, opens the 2015 campaign on Sept. 3 against Alcorn State. The Braves are the first of Tech's four non-conference opponents in 2015, including Tulane (Sept. 12), at Notre Dame (Sept. 19), and Georgia (Nov. 28). The Yellow Jackets' eight-game ACC schedule includes home games against North Carolina (Oct. 3), Pitt (Oct. 17), Florida State (Oct. 24), and Virginia Tech (Nov. 12). Tech's ACC road schedule features games at Duke (Sept. 26), Clemson (Oct. 10), Virginia (Oct. 31), and Miami (Nov. 21). Tech's Nov. 12 game vs. Virginia Tech will be an ESPN Thursday Night telecast, the Jackets' 27th appearance on ESPN's Thursday night programming -- the second-most appearances among FBS schools behind, coincidentally, Virginia Tech. In 2015, ACC teams will play a higher percentage of Power Five Conference teams (38%) than any other Power Five Conference. ACC teams will also play games against opponents who had a higher FBS (.536) and overall (.536) winning percentage in 2014 than any other Power Five Conference. ACC teams will also play 24 games against non-conference opponents that played in bowl games in 2014.
