Boys basketball: White Co. falls to Stephens Co. in 8-AAAA

TOCCOA -- Stephens County got its first Region 8-AAAA win of the season with a 65-58 win over White County Tuesday night.<br /> <br /> It was a tough loss for the Warriors (12-10, 2-3 Region 8-AAAA) who have now lost five of their last seven games since a five-game winning streak.<br /> <br /> The Indians (6-16, 1-4) snapped a nine-game losing streak with the victory.<br /> <br /> Stephens County was led by Tay Jones with 19 points. Tyriq Combs added 17 points for the Indians.<br /> <br /> White County was paced by Desmon Mataro with 17 points. Bradley Hurst and Whit Mauney had 10 points each for the Warriors.<br /> <br /> The Warriors next will play host to Monroe Area on Friday in another Region 8-AAAA contest.<br /> <br /> Stephens County will play host to North Oconee on Friday in 8-AAAA play.
