Boys basketball: Steeple, Venable lead Banks Co. past Fannin

BLUE RIDGE -- Zez Steeple had 22 points and five assists and Austin Venable posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Banks County to a 65-43 win over Fannin County Saturday in a key Region 7-AAA matchup.<br /> <br /> The Leopards (17-3, 6-1 Region 7-AAA) needed a win with a hug trip to East Hall looming on Tuesday. The Vikings sit atop the region standings, one game ahead of Banks County and a victory over the Leopards earlier in the season.<br /> <br /> Kahmal Wiley added five points and 10 rebounds and Zac Orr had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Leopards.<br /> <br /> Fannin County (10-7, 2-4) will play host to Lumpkin County on Tuesday in a 7-AAA contest.<br />
