CORNELIA - The Georgia State Patrol has released basic information about Tuesday afternoon's wreck on Highway 365 near Cornelia.

According to Trooper Galloway of GSP Post 7 in Toccoa, the wreck involved a brown Ford Explorer driven by 18-year-old Taylor Brown.

Brown's SUV was traveling south on Georgia Highway 365 and left the road just north of the Old Cleveland Road overpass at the left exit to 441 Bypass and collided with a bridge support.

"She just ran off the road," Galloway said. "She wasn't getting off the exit. It appeared she just put her left wheel off and pretty much slid the whole way. She struck the concrete bridge support with the left front."

Emergency personnel initially were unable to access the vehicle to turn off the engine because of the SUV's position against the bridge support.

Brown was injured and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Galloway said.
