Annual Longstreet open house, memorial service is Sun.

GAINESVILLE - The Longstreet Society and the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) Camp 1860, Blue Ridge Rifles of Dahlonega will hold the annual joint graveside memorial service and open house on Sunday starting at 2:00.<br /> <br /> The 17th annual graveside service at Alta Vista Cemetery at the grave of Gen. James Longstreet who lived in Gainesville after the Civil War will feature period costumes, a rifle salute, a graveside prayer, brief addresses by Longstreet Society and SCV officials and the presentation of a memorial wreath.<br /> <br /> Immediately after the service the Longstreet Society will host an open house at the Piedmont Hotel at 827 Maple Street. The hotel was owned and operated by General<br /> Longstreet and is now the Longstreet Society's headquarters and features a museum room, library and the room in which Woodrow Wilson's daughter Jesse was born. <br /> <br /> Gen.
