Softball: Buford holds off Grayson

GRAYSON -- Buford scored four runs in the second inning and then held on for a 4-3 win over Grayson Wednesday in girls softball action.<br />

For the Class AAAA No.1-ranked Lady Wolves (25-1) Sydney Stavro had a two-run double and Jordan Deep had a RBI single in the inning.<br />
<br />
Grayson rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh but freshman pitcher Logan Caymol got her first varsity save coming on in the seventh with two on and no outs and the score at 4-2. Caymol would strike out the side to preserve the win for starting pitcher Emily Crocker.<br />
<br />
Crocker (4-0) went six innings allowing three runs while fanning three.<br />
<br />
Stavro finished with two hits for Buford. Deep and Drew Puckett each had one hit for the Lady Wolves.<br />
<br />
Buford next will travel to Madison County on Thursday to take on the Lady Red Raiders for the Region 8-AAAA title. Both teams are tied at 7-0 atop the region standings heading into Thursday's finale.
