Lady Nighthawks set to host 2nd annual UNG Cross Country Invitational

DAHLONEGA -- The University of North Georgia women's cross country program is set to host the 2nd Annual UNG Invitational this Saturday on the Gainesville campus in Oakwood. <br />
<br />
The Nighthawks are currently ranked second in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region and will look to defend the invitational title from last season.<br />
<br />
"We are looking forward to staying home and getting to host this weekend," head coach Tom Williams said. "The cross country athlete really has a chance to come out at this course and I think there will be some good competition with a variety of Division II schools as well as smaller schools from around Georgia."<br />
<br />
The field will feature Gainesville's Brenau University along with Young Harris, USC Aiken, West Georgia, SCAD Atlanta and nine other area schools along with UNG.<br />
<br />
The women's 5k race will begin at 8:15 a.m., with the men's 8k race following at 9 a.m. The course is located on the west side of the UNG-Gainesville campus, behind the Hugh Mills Physical Education Center.<br />
<br />
Nigel the Nighthawk will serve as the grand marshal for the event.<br />
<br />
Admission is free and ample parking is available in the parking deck located next to the Hugh Mills Center.
