GAINESVILLE - Hall County officials have begun looking for qualified companies interested in bidding on a new headquarters building for the sheriff's department.

County commissioners approved construction of the three-story, 51,000-square-foot building several months ago. It will be located on the site of the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road.

According to a posting on the county's Website, Pre-Qualification packages will be received by the county Purchasing Department until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23.

"The purpose of this request for qualifications is to pre-qualify general contracting firms that are proficient in the construction of this facility," the posting reads.

The county intends to use in-house crews for some of the interior work.

"Pre-qualification will be based on experience completing similar projects, working with local governments, references, providing adequate staff, etc.," according to the posting.
