CUMMING - After her arrest Monday night at a Forsyth County bar, the deputy coroner for Lumpkin County has been suspended from her job.
Sonya Abercrombie was arrested Monday night and charged with impersonating a police officer, according to Forsyth County Deputy Doug Rainwater. He said Abercrombie and a friend ordered alcoholic drinks at Austin's Tavern on Highway 20 in Cumming, and the waitress asked for identification.

"At that point, Ms. Abercombie stated that she was a police officer and that she didn't need to show an ID," said Rainwater.

He said management at the bar called law enforcement, and Abercombie was arrested.

Abercrombie was released on $5,610 bond, according to Rainwater.
Lumpkin County Coroner Ronald Fortner confirmed that Abercrombie has worked for him for about two years. He said she was suspended without pay when he learned of the arrest.
