Watson throws 3 TD passes to rally East Hall to late comeback

NORCROSS -- Devin Watson connected with Rex Purgason on an 8-yard touchdown pass with 1:30 left in the game to complete a fourth quarter comeback and lead East Hall to a 20-13 win over Wesleyan Friday night in its season-opener.<br /> <br /> The Vikings trailed 13-12 late in the fourth quarter when Watson engineered the game-winning drive. Watson then hit Junior Lee on a two-point conversion for the final score.<br /> <br /> East Hall (1-0) took the initial lead on a 20-yard pass from Watson to Purgason in the first quarter. Wesleyan would take a 7-6 lead into halftime with a second quarter touchdown.<br /> <br /> The Vikings retook the lead 12-7 in the third quarter on a 99-yard touchdown pass from Watson to Jacquen Hopkins. Wesleyan again answered with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.<br /> <br /> Hopkins and Brandon Tate helped preserve the win for East Hall with one interception each on defense.<br /> <br /> East Hall coach Bryan Gray could not have been more pleased.<br /> <br /> "It was a great defensive effort," Gray said. We forced four turnovers and that was a big key to the win."<br /> <br /> The Vikings will play host to Pickens next Friday.
