POWDER SPRINGS -- Mill Creek put up a great second quarter, but it wasn't enough to send the Hawks to a victory in their season-opener.

Colquitt County outscored Mill Creek 21-0 in the second half to pull out a comeback 31-14 victory over the Hawks in the Kell Classic played at McEachern High on Saturday.

The Packers (1-0) came out firing, taking a 10-0 lead -- but the Hawks (0-1) answered with back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter, including on a double-reverse pass, to nab a halftime advantage.

It was all Colquitt from there, however, as the Packers pulled ahead for good on their possession of the third quarter. Colquitt tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Mill Creek put up 311 total yards, 193 of that through the air from quarterback Daniel David. The Hawks also rushed for 118 yards but committed one turnover.

Colquitt put up 454 yards -- 256 passing and 198 rushing.

Mill Creek will look to bounce back on Friday at West Forsyth.
