3 students now charged in gun brought to Atlanta school

ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta police say charges have been filed against three students accused of handling a gun that led to a school lockdown.<br /> <br /> Police say no injuries were reported and no shots were fired at Frederick Douglass High School in northwest Atlanta Wednesday. Police say the weapon was recovered on school grounds.<br /> <br /> Officer John Chafee says the teens are charged with possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a firearm by a minor and disrupting public schools. The teens have been taken to the Fulton County Youth Detention Center and their identities haven't been released.<br /> <br /> Atlanta Public Schools spokesman James Malone has said students, faculty and staff were safe while the campus was locked down and searched. Malone said parents were notified of the situation by email and automated calls.
