Winner declared in Ga. GOP schools chief recount

ATLANTA (AP) Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp says Richard L. Woods has won the Republican primary runoff recount in the race for state school superintendent. <br /> <br /> Kemp announced the results of the primary runoff recount Thursday afternoon. <br /> <br /> Kemp says Irwin County educator Woods won 50.09 percent of votes compared with 49.91 percent of votes that were cast for Michael L. Buck, chief academic officer of the Georgia Department of Education. <br /> <br /> Kemp says the two were separated by about 700 votes.
