GSP promotions, transfers affect several northeast Georgia personnel

ATLANTA - Promotions and transfers of Georgia State Patrol employees from around the region currently are taking place. <br /> <br /> Capt. Tommy Waldrop, commander of Troop B in northeast Georgia, has been appointed to the rank of major effective Aug. 1. Waldrop will transfer to GSP Headquarters as commanding officer of GSP.<br /> <br /> Capt. Keith Canup will transfer from the DPS Garage to Troop B commander on Aug. 1.<br /> <br /> Lt. Mark Perry was promoted to the rank of captain on July 16, and transferred to GSP Headquarters as public information director.<br /> <br /> Lt. Dean Allen was transferred from Troop C Command in Atlanta to replace Perry as assistant Troop B commander.<br /> <br /> Other transfers and promotions effective Aug. 1 include:<br /> <br /> * Sgt. 1st Class Al Whitworth, who will transfer from post commander at Post 7 in Toccoa to post commander of the new Post 52 in Hartwell.<br /> <br /> * Sgt. 1st Class Chad Johnson, who will transfer from commander of Post 6 in Gainesville to post commander of Post 7 in Toccoa;<br /> <br /> * Trooper 1st Class Casey Coffee of Post 7 in Toccoa, who has been promoted to corporal of Post 49, the GSP Motorcycle Unit in Atlanta.<br /> <br /> These promotions and transfers create a post commander opening at Post 7 in Gainesville. A promotional meeting is forthcoming, with a new post commander to be in place on Aug. 16, Perry said.
Capt. Tommy Waldrop has been promoted to major.
Lt. Mark Perry was promoted to captain on July 16 and transferred to GSP Headquarters as public information director.
Lt. Dean Allen has been named assistant commander of Troop B.
Sgt. 1st Class Al Whitworth will transfer from commander of Post 7 in Toccoa to become the inaugural commander at Post 52 (Hartwell).
Sgt. 1st Class Chad Johnson will transfer from commander of Post 6 in Gainesville to commander of Post 7 in Toccoa.
Trooper 1st Class Casey Coffee of Post 7 in Toccoa has been promoted to corporal and will transfer to Post 49, GSP Motorcycle Unit in Atlanta.
Capt. Keith Canup will become Troop B commander on Aug. 1.
