CORNELIA - One person was taken for treatment as a result of a three-vehicle wreck that blocked the northbound lanes of Georgia Highway 365 near Cornelia for more than 90 minutes Thursday afternoon.

Trooper 1st Class Jesse Lewis of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa provided details of the wreck on Georgia 365 just north of the Level Grove Road exit, which was reported to GSP at 3:53 p.m.

The crash involved a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 31-year-old Dustin Cragg of Alto, a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 21-year-old Jacob Simmons of Clarkesville, and a 2013 Ford Focus driven by 58-year-old Bruce Collins of Lula, Lewis said.

Cragg's Jeep was traveling north on Georgia Highway 365 in the left lane, while Simmons' Trailblazer and Collins' Focus were both stopped in traffic on Georgia 365 northbound in the left lane, Lewis said.

Lewis said that traffic backup resulted from a wreck being investigated between Level Grove Road and Old Cleveland Road.

Cragg's vehicle struck Simmons' vehicle in the rear, then traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway before coming to rest, Lewis said. Simmons' vehicle traveled off the west shoulder of the roadway and came to rest.

Collins' vehicle was struck by debris.

The impact trapped Cragg in the vehicle and he had to be extricated by emergency personnel, Lewis said.

A requested medical helicopter was canceled and Cragg was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday night, Lewis said.

Simmons complained of injuries, and Collins was not hurt, Lewis said.

All three drivers were wearing seatbelts, and the airbags in the Jeep deployed, Lewis said.

Charges are pending, Lewis said.

Northbound traffic on Georgia 365 was blocked until 5:35 p.m., backing up as far as Georgia 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) in Baldwin.
