CLEVELAND - The White County Commission Monday afternoon approved a county budget for fiscal year 2015 that will not require a millage rate increase.
Prior to the approval, County Manager Mike Melton told commissioners the budget figures were the same as those presented last Monday at a pubic hearing except for the $3,000 commissioners approved to add to the White County Library for the purchase of books, which are not funded by the state.
The total general fund calls for $15.9 million in expenditures. Public safety takes up 48 percent of the budget.
Following the budget approval, Commission Chairman Travis Turner made a statement.

"With the budget we passed, this should allow us to adopt a millage and a budget, which we just did, that will - well there will not be a millage rate increase for the sixth consecutive year."
Turner thanked county commission staff and department heads for great work on completing this year's budget.
