SUWANEE - Four trails in Gwinnett County parks were added to the National Trail System in honor of National Trails Day, which is today. One of the parks is in our area, and they are the only Georgia parks selected.

The four trails are in Settles Bridge Park in Suwanee, McDaniel Farm Park in Duluth, Harbins Park and Little Mulberry Park, both in Dacula. The Gwinnett trails make up 15 miles of the 452 newest miles in the trail system.

The trails were recognized by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and Director of the National Park Service Jonathan B. Jarvis.

"This is an exciting time for parks and recreation in Gwinnett County," said Charlotte Nash, Commission Chairman. "I am so proud that all for trails named in Georgia this year are in our very own county parks system."

Each of the new national recreation trails will receive a certificate of designation, a congratulatory letter from Secretary Jewell and a set of trail markers.
