gainesville - The U.S. Forest Service, partnering organizations and volunteers, will host a number of service events across the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests Saturday in celebration of the 22nd annual National Trails Day. <br />

Hikers, equestrians, mountain bikers and anyone who enjoys the outdoors and wants to give something back are invited to participate. Events include activities such as trail and trailhead maintenance, tree planting and sign installation.<br />
<br />
"Hundreds of thousands of people come to Georgia's national forests to hike, bike, and ride our more than 800 miles of trails," said Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests Supervisor Betty Jewett. "National Trails Day is just one way to recognize and celebrate our partners and volunteers who help make these fantastic trail systems possible."<br />

Anna Ruby Falls Hemlock Day<br />
Hemlock Day at Anna Ruby Falls Recreation Area will include an education station near the visitor center sponsored by Save Georgia's Hemlocks where visitors can learn what they can do to help save the area's hemlock trees. Presentations are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Healthy hemlock saplings will be available for adoption.
