Gauldin takes NeSmith WRS points lead with Talladega Short Track win

CARTERSVILLE, GA - Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to victory on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and took over the point lead of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series after Week 2 competition. Gauldin's win followed up a Week 1 second-place finish to give him a total of 99 points.

Gauldin holds a three-point lead over Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS. Bridgmon, a Week 1 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series winner, finished fifth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in the Robinson Electric Special. Bridgmon holds the second spot with 96 points.

Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA finished third on Saturday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Green's Propane Gas Special. With a Week 1 top 5 finish, Lewis is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 95 points.

Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN finished fourth on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN driving the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket. Two Top 5 finishes in first two weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition has Cooper fourth in the standings with 94 points.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS drove the Thrash Motorsports GRT to the win on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to move into a three-way tie in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings at 93 points with Dana Eiland of Salem, AL and Josh Trammell of Hoover, AL.

Eiland finished sixth on Saturday night at Penton Raceway in the Andy's Auto Parts Special, and Trammell finished drove the Trammell Motorsports Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Casey Haney of Meridian, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 92 points driving the Haney Racing Special and Henry Hanger of Winchester, TN is ninth with 91 points in the Hanger's Hardwood Floor City Special. Brand Lewis of Hamilton, GA rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 90 points in the River City Vending Special.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 action, Chandler Petty of Austin, AR drove the Whistle Stop Bar-B-Que Rocket to victory on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Brent Rhodes of Bremen, AL took the win on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL driving the Rhodes Racing Special.

Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL was the Saturday night winner at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL in the Dykes Racing Special, and Michael Lee of Camden, TN drove the Lee Racing Special to victory on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Charlie Cole of Poplar Bluff, MO was the winner on Saturday night in the Cole Racing Special at Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Mother Nature claimed four NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 2 races, as rain claimed events at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS on Friday night, as well as Saturday night races at Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.

After the first two weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, a total of 137 different drivers have earned points. The complete NeSmith Chevrolet WRS point standings are posted on the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS website.
