Baseball: Gettys, Sewell power Elephants to win over Loganville

LOGANVILLE -- Michael Gettys and Brandon Sewell each belted home runs and Gainesville handed Loganville its first Region 8-AAAAA loss of the season Tuesday in a 9-6 victory on the road.

Gettys finished with three hits and two RBI to pace the Red Elephants (12-6, 6-2 Region 8-AAAAA). The senior standout was held hitless against the Red Devils (12-5, 7-1) on Friday.

Harrison Styles also had three hits and Sims Griffith and Drew Satterfield each had a double for Gainesville.

Griffith started and pitched 5 2/3 innings fanning nine. Michael Curry, however, would get the win in frelief going the final 1 1/3 innings.

Gainesville next will play host to Clarke Central on Wednesday.
