Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said Wednesday that Skyler Summerour, who was convicted Feb. 28, was given the sentence by Superior Court Judge Jason Deal.
Summerour was convicted of felony obstruction but was found not guilty of aggravated assault on a police officer.
A sheriff's office spokesman said at the time of the Oct. 16 incident that Summerour refused to pull over for deputies during a traffic stop and that they followed him to his home on Winfield Drive.
"He pulled up to his residence, got into a brief struggle with deputies, produced a firearm and deputies kind of retreated. He barricaded himself inside his residence and the Hall County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team was activated," Mann said.
Mann said SWAT negotiators later convinced Summerour to give up peacefully.
