Winder Police Department spokesman Officer Chris Cooper said the break-in at the store on East May Street in Winder occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Monday, February 17. He said those responsible had forced their way into the store and grabbed a quantity of electronics.
"It was basically a smash and grab type situation," said Cooper. He said authorities were not giving a dollar amount on the stolen merchandise, saying only it was "considerable amount."
Cooper said based on surveillance footage provide by the store owner, three suspects are responsible for the break-in.
"[It showed] three black male suspects entering the store. They were all three wearing hooded sweatshirts, each of a different color," said Cooper.
One of the men was wearing a white or light grey hooded sweatshirt with a black face mask and black pants; the second was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the word "purgatory" across the back shoulder area; the third suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
Cooper said investigators believe the same men also burglarized another Verizon Wireless store in Madison the day before at the same time of morning. He said video surveillance at the Madison store showed three males wearing identical clothing committing the same act.
A $4,500 reward is being offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these individuals. Winder Police Investigator Gregg Teatino is taking information at 678-425-6873.
