Those two games highlighted the final night of first round action around the area and state in the GHSA basketball playoffs.
(NOTE: See below for a complete list of area scores and Saturday's playoff schedule.)
Region 7-AAA teams went an impressive 7-1 against Region 5-AAA in the first round. The White County boys lost to highly-ranked Cartersville in a close game for the only loss for 7-AAA. The win for Johnson was its first in the first round since 2010.
The Knights were the only Region 8-AAAA boys still alive after both Eastside and Lumpkin County dropped first round games. Walnut Grove was playing Marist Saturday.
The Gainesville boys were no match for defending state champion MIller Grove in Class AAAAA.
Check back throughout the night for updated scores as we receive them. And check our Sports and High School Sports pages for in-depth game stories.
