Soccer: Chestatee girls beat North Hall in NE Ga. Mountains Cup

GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls soccer team knocked off rival North Hall 3-1 Thursday night and secured a spot in the third-place game in the NE Georgia Mountains Cup.

Chestatee (1-1) scored two goals in the first half. Hope Baxter scored first on a breakaway goal and Megan Dew knocked in a deflected shot by Heydi Acosta to make it 2-0. North Hall cut the lead to 2-1 in the closing minutes of the half.

Taylor Buffington secured the victory for the Lady War Eagles with a goal in the second half.

Chestatee will play West Hall at 6 p.m. Friday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex.
