Arbor Day celebration is Friday; youth contest winners announced

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville's Annual Arbor Day Celebration is Friday.<br /> <br /> It will be held at 10:00 at Don Carter State Park, is open to the public, and sponsored by the Hall County Master Gardeners, Keep Hall Beautiful and Georgia Power. Festivities include student contest recognition and a joint city/county proclamation with Tree City USA recognition.<br /> <br /> The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee and the Georgia Forestry Service Monday announced winners of this year's Arbor Day Student Art and Essay Contest. <br /> <br /> With over 100 entries in art and the topic "I Speak for the Trees," the first place winner in the 3rd Grade Art Contest was Juliet Edge, McEver Arts Academy. Honorable Mention: Allison Pineda, Enota MI Academy and Yvette Gonzalez, New Holland Knowledge Academy. <br /> <br /> First place in the 5th Grade Essay Contest is Ally Cook, Enota Elementary. Honorable Mention: Isaiah Willock and Ashely Andrade-Sosa, Enota Elementary.
