Soccer round-up: White Co., Lakeview girls open NEGa Mountains Cup tourney with wins

GAINESVILLE -- The White County girls opened the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup Tournament with 2-1 win over West Hall Monday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex.

West Hall led 1-0 at halftime but the Lady Warriors tied it in the second half on a cross from Charlsie Maddox to Abby Watson. It stayed that way through the rest of the second half and through both overtime periods.

Both teams made all five of their penalty kicks in the first round. The Lady Warriors would finally win it in sudden death penalty kicks on the eighth kick.

The Lady Lions got off to a strong start in the Northeast Georgia Mountains Cup on Monday in Gainesville.

Carmen Wagner scored both goals for Lakeview, including a penalty kick.

Carly Kenny assisted on the first goal.
