The webcam broadcasts from General James Longstreet's Piedmont Hotel at 827 Maple Street and viewing at https://www.dropcam.com/p/GvNpTo is free. The cam can also be accessed via our website at www.longstreet.org.
The webcam is most often stationed outside the hotel with a view across the lawn but is sometimes moved indoors to cover special events. Webcam visitors have watched live Civil War lectures from the W.L. Norton Community Room, a musical performed on the hotel's front porch and re-enactors at the Society's annual picnic. And on any given day you can watch maintenance performed, see guests come and go or see a thunderstorm rumble through town. The cam also watched and recorded this year's remarkable snowfall.
Train whistles picked up by the audio feed remind us daily that the Piedmont was once a railroad hotel and the neighborhood roosters remind us that poultry was once a staple of the hotel
dining room.
