DAWSONVILLE - A man authorities say is wanted for two bank robberies in Kentucky is behind bars without bond in Dawson County after holding up a Kroger in Dawsonville.

Dawson County Sheriff's Cpt. Tony Wooten says they got word from law enforcement officials in Kentucky that Cody Alan Arnett, 29, of Nicholasville, Kentucky was in the area, though they still haven't figured out exactly what connections, if any, he has to the area.

"We looked at the area motels, and places that we would normally look to see if someone was there. That's when we found out he had two outstanding warrants in Kentucky for bank robbery," said Wooten.

Sometime between midnight and 1:00 a.m. Monday morning, Wooten says Arnett went through the drive-thru at the Kroger pharmacy and told the employees he wanted money and cigarettes.

"He made a motion towards his back to make them believe he had a weapon, (though) never showed a weapon," said Wooten, who said Arnett made off with about $300 worth of cash and cigarettes.

Once authorities obtained the surveillance footage, they were able to identify him, confirming the warnings from authorities in Kentucky that Arnett was in the area.

"From that point, we reached out to Kentucky to let them know that he was a suspect in a robbery here. From there, the federal marshals were brought in," said Wooten.

Marshals were able to find Arnett in Tucker, and brought him into custody without incident.

At this time, Wooten says authorities believe Arnett was working alone, but the investigation is ongoing.
