GAINESVILLE - A fire early Saturday afternoon destroyed a North Hall home and sent one person to a hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the 800-1,000-square-foot structure was located in the 5400 block of Clarks Bridge Road. He said the call came in about 1:30.

"Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but due to the small size of the house and extent (of damage) before our arrival, the house was a total loss," Cagle added. "Approximate value is $25,000."

He said the fire appears to have started in combustibles that had been placed too close to an electric space heater.

"The male subject that lived alone was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation."
