Girls basketball: Duncan leads Banks County past East Hall

HOMER -- Kaitlyn Duncan poured in 25 points to help Banks County rally past East Hall Friday in a key 68-61, Region 7-AAA win at the Banks County gym.<br /> <br /> The Lady Leopards (6-1, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) trailed 16-9 after the first quarter. They used a 20-10 second quarter to grab the lead and opened up a 47-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter.<br /> <br /> Banks County girls coach Jerry King liked what he saw from his squad.<br /> <br /> "I was impressed with how the girls fought back and gutted out a win," King said.<br /> <br /> The Lady Leopards were able to hold off a fourth quarter push by East Hall (4-3, 0-2).<br /> <br /> Neither team was especially sharp from the free throw line. Banks County was just 15-of-27 and the Lady Vikings hit just 20-of-32 for the game.<br /> <br /> Allison Smith chipped in with 12 points and Paige Mathis eight points for Banks County.<br /> <br /> Ashlyn Ellison led East Hall with 20 points. Kylah Mize added 19, Jenny Edwards 10, and Carly Winters nine points for the Lady Vikings.
