Girls basketball: Lady Falcons stay atop 8-AAAAA with rout of Cedar Shoals

ATHENS -- Flowery Branch used a 23-6 second quarter to blow open a close game en route to a 63-40 win over Cedar Shoals Region 8-AAAAA girls basketball action.<br />

The Lady Falcons (7-1, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) led just 12-10 after the first quarter but took a 35-16 lead into halftime after the the offensive explosion.<br />
<br />
Maddie Hetzel led Flowery Branch with 16 points. Julianne Sutton had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Taniyah Worth also chipped in with 14 points for the Lady Falcons.<br />
<br />
Flowery Branch, which sits atop the region standings as the only unbeaten team, will play host to Oconee County in a non-region contest on Saturday.
