GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville church has agreed to give the city of Gainesville an easement which the city says is needed for a new housing development.

City officials confirmed Tuesday that an easement across a church parking lot has been granted by members of Antioch Baptist Church which is located at 1010 Mill Street.

The city asked for the access last month. Plans call for the construction of five affordable homes near the church. The houses will be marketed to people who meet certain income criteria.
