Girls basketball: North Forsyth shoots past West Forsyth in 6-AAAAAA

CUMMING -- The North Forsyth girls stayed perfect on the season and unbeaten in Region 6-AAAAAA play after taking a 53-44 win over rival West Forsyth Friday night.<br />

The two teams battled back-and-forth in the first quarter with West Forsyth holding an 8-7 lead. The Lady Raiders' took the lead for good, 14-12, midway through the second on a 3-pointer by Caroline Bowns and West Forsyth never got closer than two points the rest of the way.<br />
<br />
North Forsyth led by as many as 10 points late in the fourth quarter. The Lady Raiders were able to hold off the Lady Wolverines hitting 26-of-29 free throws for the game. West Forsyth was 14-for-22 from the line.<br />
<br />
North Forsyth (7-0, 3-0 Region 6-AAAAAA) is tied with South Forsyth atop the region standings and will play host to Alpharetta next Tuesday.<br />
<br />
Lochlain Corliss had 14 points to lead the Lady Raiders. Morgan Grindle added 11 points, Bowns had 10 points, and Okwunne Ogbogu nine points for North Forsyth.<br />
<br />
West Forsyth (3-2, 2-1) was led by Jenna Staiti with 27 points and seven rebounds. Staiti took 19 of the Lady Wolverines' 34 shots for the game.
