Lady Nighthawks soar past Chowan, 75-57

MORROW -- The North Georgia women's basketball team took down Chowan University, 75-57, Friday afternoon in the opener of the Heritage Bank Classic at Clayton State. North Georgia improves to 7-1 on the year following the victory, while Chowan remains winless at 0-6.<br />

Senior guard Stephanie Huffman led the Nighthawks with 19 points on the day, while sophomore Kelsey Hutchins came up one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down nine rebounds.<br />

Chowan's Alisha Mobley scored a game-high 24 points.<br />
<br />
The Hawks got on the board first with a Chantel Roberts layup in the first minute, but North Georgia would erase the lead in less than a minutes and would not trail for the rest of the game.<br />
<br />
The Nighthawks led by as many as 22, taking a 68-46 lead at the 3:35 mark of the second half.<br />
<br />
UNG will have a quick turnaround, facing Virginia Union University tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
