According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, 46-year-old Trina Banks Burtch of Gainesville had worked for the sheriff's office for about seven years. She resigned November 3 while an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Hall County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs unit was under way.
"These types of incidents are disappointing, but we will continue to hold our employees accountable for their actions. My administration will not tolerate such conduct by employees," Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch said in an emailed statement.
The investigation revealed Burtch allegedly stole $900.
Burtch turned herself in to face the charges Monday and was released on $6000 bond. The GBI obtained warrants for Burtch last Friday, according to the sheriff's office.
