Benedictine too much for Rabun County

TIGER -- Benedictine scored 35 consecutive points in the second and third quarters to pull away for a 42-9 win over Rabun County Friday night in the second round of the Class AA playoffs.<br />

The Wildcats (9-3) led 3-0 on a 27-yard field goal by Froy Hernandez less than four minutes into the game. They would not score again until 6:20 left in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard pass from Collin Grant to Charlie Woerner.<br />

In between, the Cadets (10-2) used its balanced attack to take the lead and pull away. Stevie Powers sandwiched a pair touchdown passes around a pair of TD runs by John Kennedy (5- and 49-yards) and one by Chris Harris (3-yards) for a 35-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.<br />

After Grant's TD pass to Woerner midway through the fourth quarter, Harris added his second score of the game on another 3-yard run.<br />
<br />
Benedictine finished with 462 yards of offense, 336 on the ground, while Rabun County had 358 yards of offense. Kennedy finished with 220 yards rushing for the Cadets. Woerner was held to just 18 yards rushing and 93 yards receiving for Rabun County.
