CUMMING - According to the Forsyth County school system website, for the 2015-2016 school year, no 'snow-days' will be included in the schedule.

The website says that should schools need to be closed for any reason, the system plans to recover instructional time by utilizing asynchronous (not at the same time) online learning.

According to the website, during the 2014-15 school year, two Inclement Weather Days were built into the calendar when it was approved in November, 2013.

Officials say that if both Inclement Weather Days are used this year, additional lost instructional days will become asynchronous online learning days.

Forsyth County Schools say that they had positive success in 2013-14 when the district utilized "itslearning" to recover lost instructional time due to inclement weather. Additionally, many of Forsyth County's teachers currently utilize blended learning (face-to-face and online) with their students.

Teachers have been training to use the web-based system for the past two years and now training is being offered to parents.

That training is as follows:
~ Monday, December 1, North Forsyth HS Cafeteria
~ Tuesday, December 2, South Forsyth HS West Hall Cafeteria
~ Thursday, December 4, Forsyth Central HS Performing Arts Center

All classes begin at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour.
